Tomb Raider fans, here is something for you today. Modder ‘Evgeshajk’ has released a new HD Texture Pack for Tomb Raider: Legend that overhauls all of its textures. This pack is compatible with both the Next-Gen and Standard versions of TR: Legend. Thus, I highly recommend downloading it if you are planning to replay this old Tomb Raider game.
Going into more details, Evgeshajk used AI tools in order to enhance the quality of the vanilla textures. As such, the modded textures retain the art style of the originals. At the same time, they also look sharper and more detailed than before.
You can go ahead and download the pack from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find some comparison screenshots. These comparisons will give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from this HD Texture Pack. So, make sure to check them out. The vanilla version is on the left, whereas the modded version is on the right.
As you can see, the AI-enhanced textures look way better than the original ones. At least most of them. The ones that felt worse, at least for me, were the textures for Lara’s hair. Other than that, the new modded textures look amazing. I mean, just look at the last comparison. That elevator looks awful with its original textures. With the new ones, it feels like a remaster.
Do also note that the Kazakhstan level will crash if you have enabled the Next-Gen Mode. This is an issue that plagued the original game, too. To put it simply, these crashes are not caused by the HD Texture Pack. So, if you reach that level, you should switch to the Standard Mode. Then, once you complete it, you can re-enable the Next-Gen Mode.
For those unaware, Tomb Raider: Legend came out on both PS2 and PS3. In other words, it was a cross-gen game. So, on PC, you can enable both the Standard (PS2) and Next-Gen (PS3) modes.
Speaking of AI-enhanced HD Texture Packs, we also suggest taking a look at these for some other games. In October 2023, STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl and Half-Life 2 got two cool AI-enhanced HD Texture Packs. Earlier this week, we also shared AI-upscaled packs for Grim Fandango Remastered and BioShock Remastered. Let’s also not forget these AI-enhanced mods for Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. You can also find packs for Far Cry 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Blood 2, Dark Souls 2, FEAR, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 and Resident Evil 7.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
